The 2020 graduate collection ‘A lily among thorns’, represents a beauty that does not compare to any other.

In a way it can relate to the story reminiscent to a fairy-tale.

 

The women who wear these designs are the ‘lily’ among the thorns, they are desired but also protected and respected. The concept of a ‘Lily’ among thorns not only represents the strength of womanhood to withstand the trials surrounding her, but also illustrates the endearment and aspiration shown to woman who wear these garments.

 

There is a high contrast between the two elements of the luxuriant, velvety softness of the elegant petal of a lily and the withered, tangled thorns around it. Despite the vulnerability of the lily surrounded by thorns her undeniable strength shines through vibrantly. Though the thorns can act as a barrier or blockage to the lily, which gives it a sense of inaccessibility, untouchable yet admired from a distance. Representation of thorns that protect the lily yet on the other hand are a direct comparison to the lily.

 

Just as our trials and tribulations are things we would gladly escape from; they also act as a protection and source of growth and strength when we overcome them. The thorns are a hedge that serve as a fence, warding off any devouring foe. An exposed lily is endangered and vulnerable, but a lily among thorns is strong and beautiful.
